With more and more consumers accessing local business information on-the-go, ShopCity.com is developing a number of mobile apps and web applications to meet the demand. The future of location-based apps looks especially bright, and we plan to incorporate many of the most popular features from today's hottest apps, including check-ins, proximity search and mobile commerce.

Our current primary product is the ShopCity web app, accessible by visiting a local domain (ex. ShopCorona.com) from any iPhone or Android device. Upon visiting the website, your browser will be detected and you'll receive a mobile-optimized site that functions very much like an installed app with fluid transitions between screens. You’ll see all the same offers and information available on your computer through the convenience of your mobile phone.

In addition to our web app, we have the ability to create installed apps for the iPhone and Android that essentially embed a copy of the web app directly on the users' device. This decreases load times and gives us the ability to be easily added to the users' home screen.



Find it nearby with the mobile search engine and directory
The mobile app features a search engine and categorized business directory that makes it really quick and easy to find what you're looking for locally. Because the quality of the content in the database is much higher quality and guaranteed to be local, it usually returns more relevant results than a general search engine, and without using complicated search terms.

 



Read and write reviews on-the-go
Logically, the best time to get access to reviews is when you're ready to make a decision, and that usually happens while you're on the go. The same goes for posting reviews - users are a lot more likely to take the time while they're still on-site, and the experience is fresh in their minds than later on when they're at home. For that reason, the ShopCity mobile app allows users to read and write reviews directly from the application, encouraging more participation and usage.

The ShopCity app enables users to browse a list of coupons available in the community. They can then present the coupon directly from their mobile device for redemption at the place of business. Some businesses choose to add barcodes to their coupons, enabling them to scan the device screen with a barcode reader for entry into their point of sale system.

Users who are looking for things to do while they're on the go can now easily access a listing of local events posted by local businesses - this includes store sales, open houses, grand openings and other things to do.

Shoppers can call or email businesses directly from their mobile profiles.  A simple tap of the email or call button connects consumers with business representatives instantly. 

Upload photos from any web-enabled phone
To enable mobile users to upload pictures, we've devised a dead-simple way to submit photos from any device that supports email, including Blackberry, iPhone, Android or Windows by simply emailing a photo to pics@shopcity.com. The subject of the email will become the photo caption, and the display name in the email program will serve as the photographer name. There's no easier way to publish photos to a local website, especially from so many different types of devices.
